Hear the four phrases first
The first two phrases share almost the same shape with different target notes. The third reaches highest; the fourth returns to the ending note. Sing each phrase and pause at its end.
Do not rush the repeated opening notes
The first two notes repeat, but the second must lead naturally into the rising phrase. Beginners often play both too quickly and rush the line.
Speak the rhythm before touching the keys.
Loop the third phrase separately
The third phrase contains the largest leap. Practise only the three notes around the leap until the target feels direct.
Do not slide across keys searching. Pause, locate, and move once.
